Thumper is a beautiful 2 year old rabbit that recently came to see Martin for a second opinion after fracturing her left femur (thigh bone extending from hip to knee).  The radiographs revealed that this was a complex fracture and so repair would not come without risks.  Thumpers owners gave us permission to surgically repair the fracture.

Martin and Rupert made a plan for Thumpers surgery and the decision was made to repair the fracture using an orthopaedic plate and screws.  Surgery was complicated and so although Thumper did well on recovery from her anaesthetic Martin gave a cautious prognosis.

Thumper remained in our Hospital being looked after by our 24 hour dedicated nursing team.  She was on supportive intravenous fluid therapy as well as pain relief and syringe feeding.

After a few days Thumper was eating well herself and so the decision was made to discharge her home to her family to continue her recovery cage rested at home.
