Important information COVID-19 – updated 15.4.2021

The practices are now able to offer all services as normal, this includes vaccinations, nail clips, anal gland emptying and neutering.

We are maintaining a closed door policy to protect our clients and staff.  A positive case within the team or isolation through the track & trace system would significantly deplete our team numbers and could jeopardise our ability to provide an effective service and maintain our emergency presence 24hours a day.

Thank you for your understanding.

If you are self-isolating or would rather not visit us at this time then we can post your pet’s prescriptions to you (P&P charges will apply)  If your pet requires our care or you require a repeat prescription, please contact us on 01474 815333 or email

When making an appointment or booking a procedure, we will request that the service be paid for at the time to avoiding unnecessary social contact.  Paper receipts will not be issued at the time. Receipts can be emailed if required. Vaccination cards can be provided or completed at the time of your appointment.

When your appointment is booked you will be given details of how the appointment will be managed, keeping you and our team safe and allowing for social distancing and appropriate biosecurity. There is a copy of this protocol here;

  • We trust you will not attend our surgeries should you be concerned that you are at risk of Coronavirus or are displaying symptoms, such as a dry cough or fever.
  • If you need to visit the practice to collect medication, we would be grateful if you would pay by telephone before collecting, to reduce social contact. When you arrive, please telephone and inform a member of reception of your arrival along with your car make/colour and then wait in or by your car until contacted by our team.  Prescription are to be collected from the window labelled “Prescription collections”.
  • Face coverings must be worn at all times unless a medical exemption certificate can be provided.  A mask or visor must be worn when dealing with any member of our staff, whether this is dropping a pet off, collecting medication from the reception window or speaking to a team member in the car park or from your car.  Our staff reserve the right to refuse to assist if you are not wearing a face covering and they will be fully supported by the practice with this.  You may purchase a disposable mask from us if you require.
  • The veterinary team will see you outside and then bring your pet into the building for it’s examination or treatment.  The Vet will return to you in order to report back their findings and advice to you outside before proceeding with treatment, unless pre-authorised by you.
  • Any further treatment cost and medication collection can be dealt with at the reception window.
  • Where practical, visits for euthanasia are carried out in our gardens, allowing more family members to be present and our staff to maintain appropriate distance.
  • Toilets are not in use for members of the public.
  • We are only accepting card payments at this time, no cash please.
  • We have cancelled all visits to inpatients.
  • Routine home visits cannot currently be carried out.  Please telephone for advice should you require clarification.
  • We will allow repeat prescriptions if your pet has been seen within 12 months rather than the usual 6 month interval.  This is at the discretion of the case vet and in some circumstances it may still be in the welfare of your pet to be seen earlier.
  • We may be able to dispense longer prescriptions than usual to save repeated trips.
  • If you are self-isolating or would rather not visit us at this time then we can post your pet’s prescriptions to you (P&P charges will apply)
  • The practice offers telephone consultations at the present time.  You may choose to request one of these in the first instance, or the Veterinary Surgeon may recommend one if appropriate.  For many conditions a physical examination of your pet may still be necessary before any treatment can be prescribed.    Please telephone the reception team to discuss and book if appropriate.  The consultation fee will be payable at the time of booking. You will be given an approximate appointment time at which the Veterinary Surgeon will telephone.  If appropriate and you are able to, please take some suitable photographs or video of your pet and send it to our WhatsApp phone number {number will be given out by the reception team} or to prior to your appointment.
  • We have cancelled all work experience students, client information evenings and non-essential meetings and gatherings within the practices until further notice.  We have restricted all non-essential engineer visits.

We are able to offer hydrotherapy sessions.

If your pet’s vaccination is due then these may proceed as normal.

At the present time we are unable to offer

  • 6 month pet health club nurse check ups – further information will be updated on this service very soon.

These services are open to registered clients of The Meopham Veterinary Hospital, Sevenoaks Veterinary Surgery or Swanscombe Veterinary Surgery.  You can register at the time of booking.
